~ Sweet Summertime ~

Spring waltzes away—no regrets
as summer flower's dance a minuet.
Iris' waving like a wondrous flag,
screeching sea gulls playing tag.

Off to the beach we will go,
hurry up, don't be slow.
Next we’ll do the dance, limbo—
just how low can you go?

Silvery Moon among glittering stars,
swinging pass Jupiter and Mars.
Brightness of the morning's sun,
encourage a day of jitterbug fun.

Sandpipers shuffle in the breeze,
playful puffins simply tease.
Albatross do such fancy dips
with long, fluttering, wing tips.

Graceful swans glide on the lake,
dancing ripples follow their wake.
Bunny's hip-hop in the clover,
weasels seem to hurry over.

Summer has really started to swing;
like a kite dancing on a string.
Summer time can include romance,
if you're willing to take a chance.

Palm trees in harmony sway,
in the sand children play.
Ocean waves quick step today,
as dolphins dance a ballet.

As the sun dips in the western sky,
moonbeams shimmer as they glide by.
Tomorrow, a new melody begins—
will you dance with me, my friend?

Very nice, Summer is all about the joy of being out in the sun, the air isn't it? I think you've captured it well in this write Jan. Smile

This is a beautiful poem, Jan. It has all the essence of summer in it. The sun, the birds, the beach, the flowers, the moon and the stars...yep, you have them all for a sweet summertime. Loved the poem and her poet!

This poem spells out the essence of summer or rather what summer should be very lyrical you should consider a chapbook J.J.

Thank you so much Robert.

I don't think I know what a chapbook is, my friend?
