~ A Friend for A Season ~

It was a beautiful bountiful season,
but seasons come to an end.
You gave me a life time of lovely memories.
Thank you for that my familiar friend.

I'll not cry for what might have been.
Instead I'll rejoice for all that we shared.
For all the miles of smiles and many grins.
I'm thankful that my love was not undeclared.

No matter how long the season, it fades away,
while a reason may only last for a day.
A forever friend I have learned is indeed rare,
they are a gem, way beyond compare.

Your friendship, was so very precious to me.
A blessed memory I will forever cherish.
It was what it was meant to be.
Now from it, I will set you free.

Your warmth was a comforting action on your part,
at that time it came straight from your heart.
Thank you for the time, that you gave to me!
From my heart your memory will never depart.

A friend for a reason.
A friend for a season.
A friend for a life time.
We all have had all three.
God always know just what
we need and who we need in
our lives and for just how long!
All will be endearing and all serve
an important part of our lives.
God, I thank you for all of my friends, for
however long and for whatever the reason!
Friends may come and friends may go,
yet inside of me, Father your love will forever flow.

Touching, Jan,

Yes, for reasons sometimes unknown, we lose friends. It is sad, for we were close and then feel loss. That happened to me and I was never clear as to why we couldn't continue to be friends, even though I was the one to break it off. I think in my case, I felt stifled in her company. Still I think of her occasionally.

Interesting poem, Jan!!!

Peggy

Hi Peggy,

Yes, losing a friend is always a sad thing. I have received a number of e-mails over the years, talking about friendships that last only for a reason, a season or a life time. I have started to feel in the past couple of months that a couple of friends that use to be here at PDB, may have only been for a season. But, I don't want to forget the good times that I enjoyed with them, either.
There were good times and they taught me things and the season was good, for that time in my life. I think you know those of whom I speak.

Dearest Janice, it's always sad to lose a friend. A friend for a season is not a friend I want, to tell you the truth. But this poem comes from your beautiful heart and I can learn from it. Thank you very much for sharing this gem with me... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Dear Helen,

I understand what you are saying, and there was a time when I would have felt that way, too. That only makes people bitter, and being bitter is indeed a VERY sad thing, even more sad than losing a friend. Even if they were not truly my friend, I was their's. I try to always be a good friend, and if they no longer want to be my friend, sadly I say, it is their loss, but it is also their choice. I refuse to throw away good memories. To me that is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. Everyone that Father God brings into our lives is for a reason and that reason is for our Father to decide, for He is all knowing and wise. We cannot see the whole picture now, but He does. He will reveal it to us, in His divine timing.

Thank you, Dear Helen, for reading and commenting, my forever friend.

Hugs Jan love5 love5 angel7 love5 love5

I recently read something about friends for a reason on Face book.

I read that it was a Cherokee saying, which didn't surprise me.
After reading that, I felt compelled to read this again. And since
I had forgotten some of it and some of the comments, I am glad that I did.
